On Saturday, April 20, we had Talent / No Talent Night at our Fun, Food and Fellowship! This one was hosted in the church basement, and we had many show up to enjoy the fun!
Contestants sang, told jokes, played instruments and even hand painted, and everyone who participated received a prize in some category or another. We are looking forward to even more participants in the next one!

Tony came to church on the first Sunday of the new year. He agreed to a Home Bible Study, and after the Bible study, he saw his need for baptism. He was the first of what we believe will be many to find this new life in Christ in 2010!

The book of Acts is known for the actions of the disciples within the church. They were able to do great and marvelous accomplishments for God, because they were empowered by the Holy Spirit. It was out of prayer that they were empowered by the Spirit that enabled them to turn their world upside down and make an impact in the lives of men for the name of Jesus Christ.
It is interesting to note that there are more prayers recorded in the book of Acts, than there are miracles. If we want to see the miracles of the book of Acts, then we need to pray like they prayed.
As pastor of the United Pentecostal Church of Virden, I feel a need in the Spirit to begin the month of February with a kick off of (28) twenty-eight day of praying through the book of Acts. The month of February has 28 days and the book of Acts has 28 chapter… each one has focus of prayer that will facilitate and accelerate the purpose and cause of apostolic revival.
The objective is to have every praying child of God praying for the same focused prayer on the same day. For example on the first day to pray for the ‘ Power to become a witness‘ Acts 1:8; the next day to focus on praying for ‘ One accord within the church‘ Acts 2:1; the third day praying for ‘ An outpouring of the Holy Spirit‘ Acts 2:17; and so on each day of February praying through out the book of Acts.
When the church makes prayer and prays with a common focus things begin to happen. It is our desire to see the church in Virden to become a book of Acts church in the 21st century.
